Job Description

Overview of Position

Flock and Rally Integrated Communications & Marketing, a progressive, women-owned agency based in Columbia, South Carolina, is seeking a communications strategist to join our team of #flockstars. This is a front-facing point of contact for our full-service creative agency’s clients, focused heavily on project management — concurrent with coordination and integration of marketing initiatives across multiple channels — with direct responsibility for content creation. This position is based in our downtown Columbia, S.C., headquarters and reports to the Executive Vice President. Compensation is based on experience.

Areas of Focus

Communications, Branding, Content & Marketing

  • Lead strategy across outreach channels, using creative vision and data insights to continuously grow the impact of and improve the performance of clients’ integrated communications channels.

  • Collaborate in the ideation and creation of marketing materials and manage the production of content (messaging, graphic design, video, audio, photography, website, advertising, etc.). Ensure that all marketing materials are accurate, well-produced, and meet campaign objectives.

  • Lead clients through the strategic planning process to develop brand audits, marketing plans and communications strategies.

  • Proofread and quality check materials and messages, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Assist and manage marketing campaigns including:

    • Email marketing.

    • Digital and traditional advertising.

    • Collateral and promotional materials.

    • Direct mail, guerrilla marketing and other tactics. 

Project Management

  • Serve as client liaison, manage project team and serve in strategy and creative roles on project teams for a variety of major clients and projects.

  • Keep up with client communications, deadlines and project details.

  • Develop and deliver scopes of work, budgets and timelines to clients, communicating project status and deliverables to the client clearly and effectively.

  • Manage projects to be on time and on budget.

  • Manage team members on various projects under one client umbrella.

  • Ensure that all work produced for your client aligns with its brand standards, visual and messaging guidelines and approved campaign creative elements.

  • Exchange ideas, strategies and tactics with fellow project managers and creative team members in a collaborative, transparent environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

For industry context, position is somewhat synonymous with an agency account manager or account executive role. At Flock and Rally, project managers actively perform strategic and creative functions on project teams.

Social Media  

Assist and perform social media work including, but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement organic social media strategies.

  • Collaborate with graphic designers to develop templates for social media graphics.

  • Monitor and review client social media posts, evaluate engagement and edit as needed.

  • Oversee and strategically monitor social media channels and analytics in order to make recommendations.

  • Develop social media voice and tone to reflect that of the client.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Public Relations

Assist and perform media relations work including, but not limited to:

  • Develop and manage media relations and public relations campaigns and strategies for clients.

  • Collaborate with PR team members and director of communications on strategies and solutions for clients.

  • Develop and manage positive relationships with members of the media on behalf of the agency and its clients in collaboration with the PR team and director of communications.

  • Draft, proofread, edit and send press releases and other PR docs to media.

  • Manage pitching process for your PR clients.

  • Coordinate coverage and prepare clients for media interviews.

  • Conduct media training for clients.

  • Coordinate press conferences and other press events.

  • Other PR and media relations duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, advertising and/ or similar discipline.

  • 3-5+ years of post-undergraduate, professional experience in public relations, marketing, social media or similar work.

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills.

  • Self-motivated, reliable and a team player.

  • Proven experience with project management and organization.

  • Candidate must live in the Columbia, South Carolina region. While the firm observes a hybrid work environment, employee must be regularly available for local meetings and client needs.
