Overview of Position

Flock and Rally Integrated Communications & Marketing, a progressive, women-owned agency based in Columbia, South Carolina, is seeking a communications strategist to join our team of #flockstars. The communications strategist is a front-facing point of contact for our full-service creative agency’s clients. The position focuses heavily on project management, concurrent with coordination and integration of marketing initiatives across multiple channels, with direct responsibility for content creation. This position reports to the Executive Vice President.

This is a full-time, nonexempt position, and requires occasional night/weekend hours. Candidate must live in the Columbia, South Carolina region. While the firm observes a hybrid and flexible work environment, employee must be regularly available for local meetings and client needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Project Management:

    • Lead, oversee and manage a variety of major clients and projects.

    • Keep up with client communications, deadlines and project details.

    • Manage team members on various projects under one client umbrella.

    • Ensure that all work produced for your client aligns with its brand standards, visual and messaging guidelines and approved campaign creative elements.

    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Communications, Branding, Content & Marketing:

    • Implement marketing tactics including but not limited to email marketing, collateral and promotional materials, direct mail, guerrilla marketing and other tactics.

    • Collaborate in the ideation and creation of marketing materials and manage the production of content (messaging, graphic design, video, audio, photography, website, advertising, etc.). Ensure that all marketing materials are accurate, well- produced, and meet campaign objectives.

    • Lead clients through the strategic planning process to develop brand audits, marketing plans and communications strategies.

    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Social Media:

    • Develop monthly social media content calendars for several clients.

    • Develop and execute all social media content for several clients, including organic and paid.

    • Monitor and manage client social media engagement.

    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Photo and Video Management:

    • Manage the full cycle of photo and video shoots, including but not limited to developing vision and shot lists, managing vendors and models.

    • Manage creative direction on-site for photo and video shoots and assist with production and editing.

    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Public Relations:

    • Execute media relations and public relations campaigns and strategies for clients.

    • Collaborate with PR team members and director of communications to develop creative press strategies and pitch the media accordingly.

    • Develop and manage positive relationships with members of the media on behalf of the agency and its clients in collaboration with the PR team and director of communications.

    • Draft, proofread, edit and send press releases and other PR docs to media.

    • Coordinate coverage and prepare clients for media interviews.

    • Coordinate press conferences and other press events.

    • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, advertising and/ or similar discipline.

  • 2-4 years of post-undergraduate, professional experience in public relations, marketing, social media or similar work. Agency experience is a plus.

  • Proven experience with project management and organization.

  • Candidate must live in the Columbia, South Carolina region. While the firm observes a hybrid and flexible work environment, employee must be regularly available for local meetings and client needs.

  • COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements.

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills.

  • Self-motivated, reliable and a team player.

  • Proven experience with content creation, project management and organization.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage high volume and produce

    high-quality work on tight deadlines.
