Columbia Open Studios

701 Center for contemporary art | 2011 To 2019

Branding, messaging, website, integrated communications & marketing

From 2011 to 2019, Flock and Rally developed and implemented a complex, integrated communications and marketing campaign — each year featuring a new theme with original illustrations by Cait Maloney Creative — for this annual tour of artists’ working studios hosted by the nonprofit 701 Center for Contemporary Art.

The campaign is anchored by a detailed, printed guidebook with hand-illustrated maps to each artists’ studio, as well as a responsive, mobile-friendly website version of the guide. A statewide & regional marketing, PR & social media campaign amplifies the 701 CCA brand and elevates awareness of the region’s vibrant visual arts community, while new partnerships are bred for the organization — and participating artists — along the way.

Flock and Rally was honored with a 2017 SCPRA Mercury Award of Excellence in Integrated Communications and a 2017 SCPRSA Silver Wing Award of Excellence in Print Brochures for the Columbia Open Studios campaign. The agency received a 2014 SCPRSA Mercury Award of Excellence in Integrated Campaigns as well as a 2014 IABC/SC Palmetto Award of Excellence in Nonprofit Communications for the Columbia Open Studios campaign.
